In celebration this week:
- Kim Rankin will play the prelude, “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”, Welsh folk song, arr. Mark Hayes, adapted by Kim Rankin
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- Then Eloise Gilland will lead us in a Call to Celebration (adapted from The Abingdon Worship Annual)
- The opening hymn will be “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling”
- Next, Eloise will lead us in a Prayer for Peace, (by Brother Matthew, Prior of the Taizé Community, adapted)
- Time with Children is next (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- We will hear invitations after that
- Next the trio of Linda Spencer on bass, Sally Cole-White on alto sax, and Kim Rankin on piano will play “What a Wonderful World” by G.D. Weiss and Bob Thiele, arr. Brent Edstrom, adapted by Kim Rankin
- Then Eloise will read John 6:1-14
- Katie will offer a sermon,
- Then we will sing the hymn of response, “Faith Begins by Letting Go”
- Next will be a Pastoral Prayer
- The offering plates will be passed; the offertory will be “Lord, I Want to Be a Christian” African-American spiritual, arr. Deanna Witkowski, adapted by Kim Rankin
- The closing hymn will be “Lord, I Want to Be a Christian”
- We will recite the Charge together
- There will be a benediction
- Followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
