In celebration this week:
- Marcia Roy will play the prelude, “Fugue in C Major”, by Dietrich Buxtehude
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- then Lin Gentry will lead us in a Call to Celebration (Church of Scotland, adapted)
- The opening hymn will be “My Shepherd Will Supply My Need”
- next, Lin will lead us in a Prayer for Peace, (Church of Scotland, adapted)
- Time with Children is next (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- we will hear invitations after that
- next an ensemble from the MPC Choir will present “If You Love Me”, John 14:15,27; music by Joel Raney
- then Lin will read Psalm 23
- Rev. Ben Daniel will offer a sermon, “Following the Good Shepherd”
- then we will sing the hymn of response, “God of Grace and God of Glory”
- next will be a Pastoral Prayer
- the offering plates will be passed; the offertory will be “Psalm 23” (based on the tune “St. Columba”), arr. Healey Willan
- the closing hymn will be “The King of Love My Shepherd Is”
- we will recite the Charge together
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
