Celebration Worship Service, June 30th, 2024

PLEASE NOTE: Celebration is back in the sanctuary! Masks are optional, but encouraged. You also may watch the service on a live stream at home. Please use this option if you aren’t feeling well. To learn more about these choices, please visit mpcfamily.org/celebrate. In order to keep everyone healthy & safe, we will:

  • encourage masking when indoors
  • run the furnace filtration system for ventilation, doors and windows open only when necessary

In celebration this week:

  • Kim Rankin will play a prelude, “The King of Love My Shepherd Is”, traditional Irish, arr. Dan Forrest
  • Rev. Ben Daniel will welcome everyone to Celebration
  • then Pat Schwinn will lead us in a Call to Celebration (making use of the poem “Three Things to Remember”  by Mary Oliver)                                                
  • The opening hymn will be “For All the Children”      
  • next, Pat will lead us in a Litany of Peace, (based on quotes by Bayard Rustin)
  • Time with Children (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
  • we will hear invitations after that
  • then there will be an anthem, Welcome to God’s Love!”, words by Lindy Thompson; music by Mark Miller
  • Pat will read from Mark 5:21-43
  • Ben will offer a sermon, “Healing the Church”
  • then we will sing the hymn of response, “Rain Down”
  • Ben will pray a Pastoral Prayer
  • the offering plates will be passed; the offertory will be “Be Thou My Vision”, traditional Irish, arr. Brent Edstrom
  • the closing song will be “I Danced in the Morning”
  • we will recite the Charge together
  • there will be a benediction
  • followed by a postlude


The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
