In celebration this week:
- Kim Rankin will play a prelude, “The King of Love My Shepherd Is”, traditional Irish, arr. Dan Forrest
- Rev. Ben Daniel will welcome everyone to Celebration
- then Pat Schwinn will lead us in a Call to Celebration (making use of the poem “Three Things to Remember” by Mary Oliver)
- The opening hymn will be “For All the Children”
- next, Pat will lead us in a Litany of Peace, (based on quotes by Bayard Rustin)
- Time with Children (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- we will hear invitations after that
- then there will be an anthem, “Welcome to God’s Love!”, words by Lindy Thompson; music by Mark Miller
- Pat will read from Mark 5:21-43
- Ben will offer a sermon, “Healing the Church”
- then we will sing the hymn of response, “Rain Down”
- Ben will pray a Pastoral Prayer
- the offering plates will be passed; the offertory will be “Be Thou My Vision”, traditional Irish, arr. Brent Edstrom
- the closing song will be “I Danced in the Morning”
- we will recite the Charge together
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
