In celebration this week:
- Marcia Roy will play a prelude, “Choral Song” by Samuel Sebastian Wesley
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- then Jerry White will lead us in a Call to Celebration (from Iona)
- The opening hymn will be “How Firm a Foundation”
- next, Jerry will lead us in a Litany of Peace, (from Iona, an ancient Syriac Prayer, adapted)
- Time with Children (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- we will hear invitations after that
- Next, Pacific Boychoir members Brenn Farrell and Arthur Pecceu will sing “Pur to Miro” by Claudio Monteverdi
- Jerry will read from Mark 4:35-41
- Rev. Ben Daniel will offer a sermon, “Calm Down”
- then we will sing the hymn of response, “Calm to the Waves”
- there will be a Pastoral Prayer
- the offering plates will be passed,
- the closing song will be “Eternal Father, Strong to Save”
- we will recite the Charge together
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
