In celebration this week:
- Kim Rankin will play a prelude on piano, “All Creatures of Our God and King” a 17th c. German chorale, arr. Brent Edstrom
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- then Kate Kelly will lead us in a Call to Celebration
- The opening hymn will be “Great is Thy Faithfulness”
- next, Kate will lead us in a Prayer for Peace
- Time with Children (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play) is next
- we will hear invitations after that
- then the MPC Choir will perform “Ain’a that Good News”, Kim directing
- Kate will read from Acts 1:15-17; 21-26
- Katie will deliver a sermon,
- then we will sing the hymn of response, “Come, Great God of All the Ages”
- Katie will offer a prayer
- Pat Schwinn will speak about the Pentecost Offering
- the offering plates will be passed while an offertory is played
- the closing hymn will be “God, Be the Love to Search and Keep Me”
- we will recite the Charge together
- there will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
