In celebration this week:
- The prelude will be a jazz selection from Barrelhouse Jazz Band
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- then Sloan White will lead us in a Call to Celebration
- The opening hymn will be “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today”
- Next, Sloan will lead us in a Prayer for Peace
- then the MPC Choir will perform “Dry Bones”, a traditional African-American spiritual; Kim Rankin directing
- followed by a Time with Children (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- Allen Spore will read from Ezekiel 37:1-14, and Sloan will read from John 20:1-18
- Rev. Ben Daniel will deliver a sermon, “the Triumph of Life”
- Then we will sing the hymn of response, “I’m Gonna sing When the Spirit Says Sing”
- The offering plates will be passed
- We will celebrate communion together,
- The closing hymn will be “Glory, Glory, Hallelujah”, a traditional African-American spiritual
- We will recite the Charge together
- There will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude from Barrelhouse Jazz Band, “When the Saints Go Marching In”
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
