In celebration this week:
- Kim Rankin will present a prelude, “Seht, was die Liebe tut” (See what love can do),
from Cantata No. 85 by J. S. Bach
- Rev. Ben Daniel will welcome everyone to Celebration
- then Shelley Kelly will lead us in a Call to Celebration (David Gambrell, PC(USA) Office of Theology & Worship)
- The opening hymn will be “Part of the Family”
- Next, Shelley will lead us in a Prayer of Confession (Thom Shuman) and Words of Assurance
- followed by a Time with Children (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- Invitations will be presented next
- then the MPC Choir will perform “Beloved, Let Us Love One Another”, words based on 1 John 4:7-8, by Pepper Choplin; Kim Rankin directing
- Shelley will read from Leviticus 19:1-2, 13-18
- Katie Kilby will deliver a sermon,
- Then we will sing the hymn of response, “Let Us Build a House (All Are Welcome)”
- The offering plates will be passed while an offertory is played, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” by Fred Rogers
- The closing hymn will be “Called as Partners in Christ’s Service”
- We will recite the Charge together
- There will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
