In celebration this week:
- Marcia Roy will present a prelude, Voluntary on “Old 100th”, Henry Purcell
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- then Deborah Brooks will lead us in a Call to Celebration (from Iona, adapted)
- The opening hymn will be “Holy, Holy, Holy”
- Next, Deborah will lead us in a Litany of Confession and Assurance (from Iona, adapted)
- followed by a Time with Children (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- Invitations will be presented next
- then the MPC Choir will perform “Fill-a Me Up!”, by Pepper Choplin; Claire Kelly, soloist; Kim Rankin directing
- Deborah will read from John 3:1-21
- Rev. Ben will deliver a sermon, “Get It?”
- Then we will sing the hymn of response, “Womb of Life and Source of Being”
- The offering plates will be passed while an offertory is played
- The closing hymn will be “Mothering God, You Gave me Birth”
- We will recite the Charge together
- There will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
