In celebration this week:
- Marcia Roy will present a prelude, “Fantasia in C Major”, J.S. Bach
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration
- then Kit Land will lead us in a Call to Celebration (World Council of Churches, adapted)
- The opening hymn will be “Christ is Made the Sure Foundation”
- Next, Kit will lead us in a Prayer of Confession (World Council of Churches, adapted), and Words of Assurance
- Next Debbie Fallehy will lead us in a Celebration of March birthdays
- followed by a Time with Children (children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- Invitations will be presented next
- then the MPC Choir will perform “Praise the Lord, Ye Heavens Adore Him”, text from Psalm 148:1-6, 14; music by Alan Bullard (b. 1947), Kim Rankin directing
- Kit will read from John 2:13-22
- Rev. Ben will deliver a sermon, “Get the Flock Out of Here”
- Then we will sing the hymn of response, “What Shall I Render to the Lord”
- Next the Renew MPC team will present a God’s Work in the World
- Then, the offering plates will be passed while an offertory is played
- We will celebrate communion together, while singing “Come to the Table of Grace”
- The closing hymn will be “May God Support You All Your Days”
- We will recite the Charge together
- There will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
