In celebration this week:
- Marcia Roy will present a prelude, “God, Who Stretched the Spangled Heavens”, arr. Wilbur Held
- Katie Kilby will welcome everyone to Celebration,
- then Mike Griffith will lead us in a Call to Celebration (from Iona)
- The opening hymn will be “Lift Every Voice and Sing”.
- Next, Mike will lead us in a Prayer for Peace (from Iona, adapted from a prayer by John McCulloch)
- Then Debbie Fallehy will lead us in a celebration of February birthdays
- followed by a Time with Children. (Children will then be dismissed to Godly Play)
- Invitations will be presented next,
- Then Voci will perform “Where the Light Begins” by Susan LaBarr
- Mike will read from Isaiah 40:21-31
- Rev. Ben will deliver a sermon entitled, “Steady On”,
- Then we will sing the hymn of response, “‘We Are One in the Spirit”,
- Next, the offering plates will be passed while an offertory is played by Marcia, “Heaven-Haven”, by Samuel Barber, based on a poem by Gerald Manley Hopkins
- Then we will celebrate Communion together
- The closing hymn will be “Amazing Grace”,
- We will recite the Charge together,
- There will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude from Marcia.
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
