In celebration this week:
- The prelude will be played by Kim Rankin
- We’ll sing “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” together as the Advent wreath is processed to the front
- Cindy and Linnea Gullikson will light the wreath, and lead us in the responsive reading
- Katie will welcome everyone to Celebration,
- The opening hymn will be “Comfort, Comfort Now My People”.
- Next, Susan Spore will lead us in a Prayer for Peace (adapted from and inspired by Prayers of Iona)
- Followed by a Time with Children, where Katie will present the nativity.
- Invitations are next,
- followed by Susan reading aloud the scripture readings from Isaiah 40:1-11 and Mark 11: 1-8
- Next, Ben will share a sermon, “Dropping Names”.
- The hymn of response will be “Blest be the God of Israel”,
- Followed by a pastoral prayer.
- Then we will bless Linnea on her journey,
- The offering plates will be passed while Kim plays an offertory.
- The closing hymn will be “Now the Heavens Start to Whisper”.
- We will recite the Charge together,
- There will be a benediction
- followed by a postlude
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Care for Creation. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
