In celebration this week:
- Kim will play a medley of carols prelude, and
- Ben will welcome us to Celebration,
- Sally Cole-White will lead us in the Call to Celebration.
- The opening hymn is, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”,
- Next, Sally will lead us in the Prayer for Peace (from A New Zealand Prayer Book),
- And next the MPC Choir will sing, “Methinks I See An Heav’nly Host” by William Billings
- Sally will then lead us in a scripture lesson from Matthew 2:13-23.
- Ben will preach a sermon titled, “Opt Out”.
- The Hymn of Response will be, “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming”, and
- Ben will offer a Pastoral Prayer
- Offering,
- Next will be time for invitations.
- The closing hymn will be, “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear”, then
- Sally will lead us in the Charge, and
- Ben will offer a benediction.
- Marcia will play a postlude, “On This Day Earth Shall Ring”.
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
