Celebration Worship Service, December 5th

In celebration this week:

  • The Troubadours will perform the prelude, “Ding Dong! Merrily on High”,arr. David Willcocks
  • As we prepare to light the Advent Wreath, we will sing the processional song, “While We Are Waiting, Come”.
  • Next is the responsive reading as the advent wreath is lit, led by the Zolezzi-Merlander family..
  • The opening hymn is, “Comfort, Comfort Ye My People”,
  • Jerry White will lead us in a Prayer for Peace (adapted from and inspired by Prayers of Iona],
  • Ben will welcome us to Celebration,
  • Debbie Fallehy will lead us in celebrating December birthdays,
  • The children will be dismissed to Godly Play.
  • Jerry will lead us in the scripture reading, Isaiah 9:2-7, then
  • Talitha will offer a sermon, “Light and Darkness”,
  • Next, the Troubadours will present, “In the Bleak Midwinter”, words by Christina Rossetti, music by Harold Darke.
  • Offering,
  • Invitations.
  • Next, we will celebrate communion and say the Lord’s Prayer together.
  • The closing hymn is “Awake, Awake and Greet the New Morn” and then
  • Jerry will lead us in the Charge and Ben will offer a benediction.
  • The Troubadors will offer the postlude, “Torches”, by John Joubert,
  • Ushers will dismiss the congregation row by row.

The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
