I’m not sure congratulations are in order, but congratulations anyway: you have survived a complete year—52 weeks—of online celebration. I have a hard time believing that it’s been a full year since I have preached from a pulpit or passed the peace or enjoyed the sound of a congregation singing hymns together. MPC’s re-opening taskforce will be re-convening to talk about when and how we can gather in person (much of which will depend on how fast we all can get vaccinated), but for the time being we’re still online. Alas.

- Babs Callaway will lead us in a prayer for peace,
- Talitha will lead us in a Godly Play lesson,
- Cindy Gullikson will read John 4:14-21,
- I will preach a sermon that looks at religious supersitition,
- The MPC choir will sing “What Wondrous Love”,
- Talitha will lead us in a pastoral prayer,
- Climate activist Xiye Bastida and members of the MPC climate action committee will lead us in “God’s Work in the World” videos,
- The closing hymn is “Lord, Make us More Holy”, and
- I will lead us in a family life video.
As we near the anniversary of our last in-person Sunday service, I want to thank you for sticking with MPC’s ongoing online services. I look forward to the day when this is all in the past, but for now, we’re moving ahead and staying strong, thanks to you.
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
