A note from Rev. Ben:
For celebration this week we will be joining Presbyterians from across our denomination and around the world in a worship service produced by the Presbytery of Boston. The worship service is led by The Rev. Cindy Kohmann, one of the outgoing co-moderators of the General Assembly. Elder Vilmarie Cintrón-Olivieri, the other outgoing co-moderator, also makes an appearance in the service, which features participants who showcase our denomination’s racial, linguistic and cultural diversity.
It feels important for us to join in this denomination-wide worship service because it is good for us to remember our connection to the Presbyterian Church (USA) and to the wide range of people who share this denomination with us. This is like a family reunion: it helps us to remember who we are.
This is not to say that there isn’t MPC-generated content in this week’s celebration. I have put together a video that welcomes us to celebration, that gives an orientation to the Presbyterian worship service and that includes some announcements, an invitation to join in the annual auction, and a birthday blessing from Debbie (to do this video, I have used my newly-acquired skills as a video editor; these are skills I learned from my daughter, Mimi, and I hope you will enjoy the result). I also have made a video for after the Presbyterian service because I wanted to give us a chance to say the charge together.

Today’s online Celebration will include:
- A video welcoming you to celebration and providing you with some important information in the live of the church,
- The Presbyterian worship service from the Presbytery of Boston, and
- A video in which we say the charge together
A note about the service: there will be communion in the denomination’s service, so be sure to get the elements together: some bread and a cup of wine, juice, or whatever you are drinking.
The Charge (say together) Go out into the world in peace. Have courage; hold on to what is good. Return no one evil for evil. Strengthen the faint-hearted, support the weak, and help the suffering. Honor all people. Love and serve God, rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.
