Dear friends,
I’m in LA with the youth group (pray for us!) on a mission trip. It’s been a busy 2 weeks with 2 trips in a row. Check out our evolving photo album from Tahoe on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/61582869@N04/albums/72157682606847883
I want to make sure everyone knows about an upcoming theme for the month of August. We will be focusing on local mission and all it can mean. The HAWG (Hunger Action Working Group) leaders have planned several opportunities to volunteer this month, at Habitat for Humanity and the Alameda County Food Bank. We also hope that you will participate in an ongoing food drive each Sunday in July. Bring your garden produce to share with other church members or your non-perishable food to donate directly to the pantry we run at Fruitvale. Popular items there, which we can’t always get from the food bank, include ramen, canned pineapple, and coffee; in addition, tuna and peanut butter are high-nutrition value items, if you can get them at a good price.
So, please bring your food to donate or share! And, are YOU doing any local mission in July? Volunteering, marching, advocating, or cleaning up? Email me a photo and a caption, so we can feature it in our month of service. Maybe take the time to invite an MPC friend to join you for a few hours of your favorite local mission work. And, make sure not to miss our July 2nd church service, where the youth group will present all the work they’ve done in Hollywood.
Every Blessing
Talitha
