Karen Stokes came to Montclair Presbyterian Church as pastor in 1998, having long known of this church's commitment to social justice, innovative worship and strong lay leadership. She has enjoyed being a part of MPC's continued evolution, as the people of this church have explored new definitions of what it means to be a progressive Christian congregation in the 21st century.

Karen received her Master of Divinity degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary, and since 1983 has served congregations in Northern California as pastor, associate pastor and co-pastor (with her husband Chandler). She is a musician, gardener and dog-lover, and the mother of two grown sons, Jeremy and Dustan.
