Holy Week and Easter at MPC

Holy Week

Palm Sunday, March 24th at 10am A special, celebratory Sunday morning service to commemorate Jesus’ procession into Jerusalem and mark the beginning of Holy Week.

Maundy Thursday, March 28th at 6:30pm A one-hour evening Communion service where we gather to commemorate the Last Supper.

Good Friday, March 29th

3-4:30 PM MPC will participate in an ecumenical service and gathering at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. This will be a gathering with folks from St. John’s Episcopal Church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Lake Merritt Methodist Church, Corpus Christi, Our Lady of Lourdes, and  Park Blvd Presbyterian Church. We’ll start with the observance of a Catholic Good Friday service, followed by an ecumenical prayer service on the shores of Lake Merritt. If you just want to come for the ecumenical prayers, feel free to show up at about 4.

7pm A solemn service where we gather to remember death at the cross on the journey toward new life at Easter.

These services help us get ready to approach the joyous mystery of Easter. See you there.

Easter Sunday, March 31

Easter kids 2011

Easter at Montclair Presbyterian Church is a toe tapping, hand clapping, child friendly, heavenly music making, strawberries and sparkling cider partaking, Easter Egg Hunt playing, meaningful connection making kind of Sunday!
All are welcome, wherever you are on your life’s journey, to join us at 10 am for our Celebration, led by the Barrelhouse Jazz Band, the Montclair Presbyterian Choir, the whole congregation and Rev. Ben Daniel.

Mid-way through the service, children are invited to go upstairs to hear the Easter story told by Katherine Palmer-Collins, our Godly Play Master Storyteller. They will return in time to participate in communion.

Easter hats are welcome and definitely not required! Come and join us as we celebrate the Risen Christ.

Our Celebration service will be followed by an Easter Egg Hunt for children. The Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 11:30 am and strawberries and sparkling cider will be served in the courtyard.

Parking in the neighborhood can be tricky! If the church lot is full, please try parking on Thornhill Drive near Thornhill Elementary, or at the intersection of Thornhill Drive and Mountain Ave.

Please contact us with any questions. We hope to see you for Easter!
