DESCRIPTION OF YULE FEAST COMMITTEES

 Support the Yule Feast: Signup for a comittee and have fun!

Decorations:  Early Saturday morning, transforms sanctuary into medieval banquet hall and decorate Family

Room.  Set up Herald posts and exterior lights, hang banners, place greenery and fruit on tables purchased by Salad Committee, after Table Setting Committee has covered tables with paper covering.  Remove decorations Sunday after church.  Communicate with Set-up Committee, Saturday Cleanup Committee and Sunday Cleanup Committee to coordinate timing.

 

Set-up:   Set-up will be handled by the MPC Men's Team. Thursday evening turn and lift pews in sanctuary and set up tables.  On Saturday,
           after dinner or Sunday
before church,  return tables to Family Room (or stack rental tables) and turn pews back. 
            Communicate with Decorations and Clean-up Committees to coordinate timing.

 

Table Setting:   Actual work time on Saturday between 10 and 11:30 after Set-up and before Decorations

Committee have completed their tasks (communicate to ensure timing is coordinated).  Cover tables with paper covering; put on plates, cups, salt & pepper and lanterns.  Place garbage bags for Clearing Committee to use during clearing.  Set out serving dishes, pitchers, and other misc. items required by Serving, Wassail, Salad, Wine & Beverage and Coffee & Tea Committees.

 

Serving:  Each committee member is responsible for two tables; acting as a runner by bringing additional food as

needed.  Meal served between 6:30 and  8:00 p.m.

 

Clearing:  Clear tables after dinner.  Remove plastic bags (put in place by Table Setting Committee earlier) with

garbage scraped from plates. 

 

Yule Log: Arrange presentation of Yule Log.

 

Clean-up:  Saturday clean up Family Room & kitchen; after closing sweep breezeway, sweep floors in Family

 Room, kitchen & sanctuary.  Remove all items from tables in sanctuary.  Box fruit, discard greens & table coverings in appropriate recycle bins.  Place lanterns on table in Family Room for boxing and storage.

Clean-up sub-committee:  prepare and deliver left-overs to homeless shelter (make arrangements ahead of time).

 

Wassail: Purchase apple juice (for spiced cider and juice to tables) and ingredients for wassail and spiced cider.

Starting at 12:30 p.m. on the day of Yule Feast, committee members prepare wassail and let it simmer from 1:30 p.m. on; serve wassail and spiced cider during pre-dinner hour in Family Room.  Communicate with Coffee and Tea Committee to ensure equipment needed is not being used by their committee at the same time.

 

Bread:  At least 10 people are needed to bake 4 loaves (each) of bread at home; recipe provided.  Bring bread to

Family Room by 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

 

Appetizer:  Committee prepares spiced nut appetizer from provided recipe and brings to Family Room by 4:30

p.m. Saturday.

 

Salad: Committee meets from 12 – 3 p.m. on day of Yule Feast to prepare salad.  List of ingredients to pre-order

and purchase and quantities will be provided to Committee chair for bulk purchasing.  Salad Committee is responsible for table fruit.

 

 

Fish:  Individual committee members prepare provided recipe of fish course (quiche with shrimp on side) and

brings to Family Room by 5:00 p.m. Saturday.  Suggested 1 out of 4 quiches per table be prepared without shrimp for a non-meat dish at each table.

 

Fowl:  Individual committee members marinate and cook chicken at home.  It is suggested that individual

committee members purchase chicken drumettes & submit receipt to chairperson for reimbursement.  Recipe and quantity provided.  Committee brings cooked chicken to Family room between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

 

Meat:  Helps purchase meat, makes the marinade, coordinates building of cook-pit and cooks meat. 

Meat Sub-Committee:  Builds the cook-pit, helps with cooking and disassembles cook-pit on Sunday after church.

 

Roasted Potatoes:  Committee members prepare roasted potatoes (recipe provided) and brings to Family room by

5:00 p.m. Saturday.

 

Dessert:  Committee members prepare Cherry Cheesecake recipe (recipe provided) and brings to Family room

 by 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

 

Gingerbread People:  Using their own recipe or one provided by Chairperson, committee members prepare

gingerbread cookies and brings to the Family room by 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

 

Coffee & Tea:  At least 6 people are needed to prepare and serve.  Communicate with the Wassail Committee to

ensure equipment needed is available.

 

Wine & Beverage:  Provide and place wine,  apple juice (apple juice purchased by Wassail Committee) and

water at tables.

 

Childcare/Nursery:  Coordinate and help nursery staff, feed and oversee children 5 and under in the nursery.

 

Photo/Video:  Committee members record event with photography and video throughout the night of Yule

Feast.

 

Costumes:   Coordinate and assist in Costume Clinic, and provide information for costumes and rental locations.

 

Pageantry:  Coordinate Magi Game in Sanctuary after dinner.

 

Reservations/Table Hosts:  Take reservations during Family Hour and from office, assign seating, coordinate with

determined table host(ess)s, and prepare end table signs.
